I was recently interviewed by the team at BBC Earth in collaboration with their podcast and the PodBible magazine. They asked me about my work as a sound recordist specializing in ecology and I also gave some information regarding my upcoming podcast, Listen Over Hear.
Key topics discussed include:
The challenges of recording wildlife and natural environments.
The relationship between active and subconscious listening.
Planning, preparation, and my steps to achieving optimal recordings in differing situations.
In November I had the pleasure of spending several weeks working in the South African savanna. Together with six other sound recordists and artist Francisco Lopez, I traveled to various sites across the massive Mmabolela Private Reserve, collecting hundreds of hours of natural soundscapes and bioacoustic recordings.
